New Amenities to Vintage Heights
It has been exciting to watch the final addition going up in Vintage Heights off of 93rd St and Old Cheney Road. Soon we will have new neighbors and some new common spaces available to enjoy. You may have noticed that a community parking lot has been added to 93rd Street that will hold approximately 20 cars when complete.
Above the parking area are two raised fields that will serve a variety of needs for the neighborhood. The lower tier will be a great space for kids to have sports practices and play. This should be convenient for families in the neighborhood to practice, soccer, T-ball, baseball, or throw the football or frisbee. The upper tier we plan to use as neighborhood event space for movie nights, community picnics, our Fourth of July celebration and anything else that we would like to do.
We have traditionally used Mendoza Park for such events, but as it is a city park located in our neighborhood we have been required to get permits to use the space, there is no parking there, and we must follow guidelines for its use. Additionally, we plan on having a small utility building placed at the top with electricity and storage for our now large neighborhood.
As Vintage Heights has grown our storage needs have as well. Currently, board members store the neighborhood side-by-side, the water trailer, signs, boxes, games, tables, chairs, tools and pop-ups in our own garages and it is time to centralize everything to a common space for future generations to use and enjoy. Additionally, the 20 by 20 footprint will have a covered porch for us to use for events and for neighbors to be able to sit at a picnic table while the kids play. We are excited about this new common space for the neighborhood!
